Do you know which company makes the ink that is applied on your finger while voting and where it makes it?
This blue ink used in elections is being manufactured by only one company in India. The name of this company is Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited. Let us tell you that this is a Karnataka government company and it was started in the year 1937.
The foundation of this company was laid by Nalwadi Krishna Raja Wadiyar. Although initially the name of this company used to be Mysore Lock Factory. But in 1947, when the country became independent, this company was taken over by the government and it was named Mysore Lock and Paints Limited.
According to the information, from the 70s till today only this company has been allowed to make ink used in elections. Apart from this, the formula of the ink is also a secret and the company cannot share this formula with anyone else. According to the information, MPVL prepares this ink with the help of National Physical Laboratory.
Apart from this, for the first time in the country, in the Lok Sabha elections of 1962, the practice of applying ink on fingers was started for transparency and to prevent fake voting. Since then this solid ink is used in every Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Today Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited exports this ink not only to India but also to 25 other countries of the world. According to the information, from one bottle of ink prepared by MPVL, permanent ink can be applied on at least 700 fingers.
